I am award-winning attorney Michael Ehline. I have been commuting on the 91 Freeway for over 30 years. I know first-hand how dangerous it is, especially for new or out-of-town drivers. Below, I will explain some history and how you can recover financial compensation when you crash your car or motorcycle or get slammed by a commercial truck or bus. Running east to west, State Route 91 spans 59 miles of the Greater Los Angeles area, connecting residents from nearby towns and counties to Los Angeles.
Starting at Vermont Avenue, SR-91 consists of three freeways: the Gardena Freeway, the Artesia Freeway, and the Riverside Freeway. The Gardena Freeway begins at Vermont Avenue near the Harbor Freeway and continues eastward for about 6 miles before intersecting with the Long Beach Freeway. The Artesia Freeway starts at the Long Beach Freeway and ends at the Santa Ana Freeway.
Until the freeway alignment, the entire SR-91 route was known as Artesia Freeway. The Riverside Freeway runs from Santa Ana to the Moreno Valley/Escondido Freeway interchange.

SR-91 connects the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside. The major junctions on the SR-91 are in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Bellflower, Cerritos, Buena Park, Anaheim, Yorba Linda, Corona, and Riverside. Accidents on state highways like the SR-91 are pretty standard. Let’s look at some of the recent car accidents on the route.
Recent Car Accidents on the SR-91
Lucky Car Crash Survivor
On October 27, 2021, there was a traffic slowdown on the SR-91 near Orangethorpe Avenue due to a car crash. Upon the arrival of the California Highway Patrol, the local authorities saw a wrecked car in the middle of the highway with one person in it. Fortunately, the person was alive, taken out of the vehicle, and sent to the nearest medical center to treat injuries. The police wiped the traffic accident scene clean to resume regular traffic flow.
Wrong-Way Driver
On July 25, 2021, a crash occurred on the Artesia Freeway in Long Beach when two vehicles collided. A woman in a Honda entered the SR-91 and drove the wrong way before crashing into the oncoming traffic. The Honda driver was driving the vehicle faster than the speed limit when it crashed into another car. The injuries suffered by both female drivers resulted in two deaths at the accident scene.
BB Gun Shooting
The SR-91 in 2021 saw more than 60 BB gun shootings on the route, causing property damage to the vehicles. On May 20, 2021, another one of those BB gun shootings occurred in the Corona area, resulting in multiple calls to local police. The California Highway Patrol police are still conducting investigations into the mass BB shootings that resulted in property damage and emotional trauma to residents in the area.
The Anaheim Crash
On July 3, 2021, a vehicle crashed in Anaheim on the Riverside Freeway, causing a massive traffic disturbance on the route. Emergency services were called in to rescue the injured driver. However, the man did not make it since the injuries were too severe.
Accidents can occur anytime, anywhere, but the chances of an accident on state routes are higher than on typical roads. Whether it is a collision with a commercial vehicle or a car, accidents on state routes can leave at least one person with serious injuries, if not more. A car accident victim must file a claim immediately to protect themselves from the financial blows of an accident.

How Can a Lawyer Help with Your Personal Injury Claim?
Building a Strong Case
A qualified personal injury lawyer can assist with gathering evidence, determining the value of your claims, and filing claims. Ehline Law Firm has the resources to conduct accident investigations to evaluate fault, bring in experts to assess claim value and create a solid personal injury case to give you the best possible legal representation in California.
Expediting the Claims Process
Our personal injury lawyers have vast experience in dealing with different types of accidents—such knowledge and experience aid in gathering the necessary evidence and expediting the claims process. Insurance companies like to use delay tactics or reject claims, but with our attorneys on your side, you won’t have to deal with insurers anymore.
Assisting in the Claims Process
When working with our attorneys, we ensure that we understand the severity of an accident situation. Each accident is unique, and the damage varies depending on the injured person and their situation. Filing claims yourself can only help recover medical bills.
But with our expert attorneys, we can prove other damages and compensate you for lost wages, future medical costs, punitive damages, and more. In the case of wrongful death, a car accident attorney can help recover funeral and burial costs.
During the settlement process, there can be disagreements between what the plaintiff deserves and what the insurers are willing to pay. Having reputable car accident lawyers on your side with trial experience can increase your chances of getting fair compensation, as insurers would rather avoid the bad publicity coming from a trial than pay compensation.
