After intersecting the SR-34 at Somis, the SR-118 flows towards Moorpark, where it intersects the SR-23 and runs together before splitting off at the freeway interchange. This is where the eastern section of the SR-118 begins.
As it continues north, State Route 118 provides routes for residents in Moorpark and Simi Valley to the neighborhoods in Los Angeles. The route travels to Santa Susana State Park, Chatsworth, Granada Hills, and Pacoima before terminating at the I-210 interchange.
Part of the National Highway System, SR-118 contributes to the economy, defense, and mobility of the country, besides being a travel route for residents to commute on.
Accidents on SR-118
State highways like the SR-118 are notorious for fatal motor vehicle accidents due to their higher speed limits. Overspeeding not only exponentially increases the crash energy but also requires larger stopping distances to bring the vehicle to a halt effectively. With a lot of traffic on the SR-118, a bit of distracted driving could lead to fatal consequences. Here, we will look at some of the different accidents that happened on the SR-118.
Big Rig Crash
According to City News Service, on March 10, 2021, near the transition road to the 5 freeway, a big rig lost control and crashed into a nearby embankment, resulting in property damage. As local authorities arrived to close a few lanes on the SR-118, the team got to work by removing the rig. Fortunately, no one got hurt, and the driver only received minor injuries and shock from the accident.
Chartered Bus Collision
On September 3, 2019, a chartered bus crashed into three other vehicles, resulting in injuries to five vehicle occupants and traffic congestion. California Highway Police were quick to respond to an emergency call, and the SR-118 was temporarily shut down to assist the injured and remove all the crashed vehicles from the highway. A firefighter team was there to help the injured out of the bus and transfer them to a nearby medical center for examination.
Multi-vehicle Pileup
On October 19, 2018, the local authorities received a call in regard to a multi-vehicle pileup involving four vehicles and a semi-truck on the SR-118 near the Tampa Avenue exit. Upon reaching the accident site, the authorities scrambled to get the four injured victims out of the vehicles. Since the injured had severe injuries requiring medical attention, they got sent to a hospital for immediate medical treatment.
These are some of the different types of accidents that occur on the SR-118 occasionally. Car accidents can put a huge dent in a victim’s finances due to medical bills, therapy, lost income, and more. It would help if you did not bear the financial brunt of an accident that was not your fault, but you can file a car accident claim to get financial compensation for your loss. Having a car accident attorney on your side can help expedite the claims process and get you a fair settlement.
When Should You File a Car Accident Claim in California?
According to the Statute of Limitations, a personal injury victim has two years following the accident to file claims against the negligent party. Filing claims after two years will result in the rejection of a claim. However, if you get into an accident due to a government body or agency, you only have six months following the accident to file a claim. The victim and the negligent party’s insurer have attorneys, and determining the fault can be challenging since each party wants to prove that their client is innocent.
Car accident cases in California require the victims to prove the negligence of the at-fault driver to be eligible for claims. A car accident attorney can help gather the necessary evidence, file a personal injury claim, and negotiate with the adjusters to get the victim maximum compensation.
How Can Our Car Accident Attorney Help Your Case?
We Are Legal Experts
A qualified car attorney knows the relevant state laws to help protect the rights of injured victims or their clients. Policyholders buy health insurance, car insurance, and additional coverage to secure themselves in the event of an accident. Still, unfortunately, that is rarely the case, as insurers don’t like paying claims. Our attorneys at Ehline Law have vast experience in handling personal injury cases, whether it is drunk driving or inadequate safety signs at a construction site, and can help assess your case.
In California, an attorney must prove that the other party’s negligence caused damage to the plaintiff. Our attorneys work with accident investigators to gather evidence from the accident scene and prove the other party’s negligence.
Determine Claims Value
Another important aspect of a car accident case is determining the value of claims. This is challenging since each case is unique and requires experience and expertise to put a value on the types of damages. Asking for too much will result in claims rejection while asking for too low of a claim will put a dent in your wallet if medical costs exceed the budget.
Locate a Lien Doctor for Medical Bills
Ehline Law helps injured victims locate a lien doctor to get the best medical care without having to worry about paying bills.
Negotiate with Insurance Companies
Insurers will most likely give you a low settlement offer if you don’t have strong legal representation. Our award-winning law firm and positive recovery record are enough for an insurance company to take us seriously and agree on fair compensation for the injured victim.
